BUSINESS MEN MEET. PROTECTION WANTED. (A. and N.Z. Cable). LONDON, Aug. 17. A meeting of business men has been convened by the London Chamber of Commerce. They passed a resolution in favour of common actid'n to end the dock strike and calling on the Home Office to assure adequate protection for the men who resumed and others who desired to resume work but were prevented from fear of personal violence. The meeting also carried a resolution welcoming the action of the ratepayers who proposed to challenge the legality of the popular Bermondsey Guardians in gi anting poor relief to the striked some of whom received larger sums in relief than when at work and urging the Government to declare illegal the payment of doles to men refusing work. DOCK STRIKE ENDS. WORK RESUMES TUESDAY. (Reuter). LONDON, Aug. 19. The dock strike has ended.. Meetings of the strikers decided to resume on Tuesday.
