HEATH OF MR. H. H. MANING. The death occurred on August 8 at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Mel--1 Mr. Hauraki Hereward | Mailing, usually known in Auck- | land as “Shau” Maning, at the age of 77. Deceased, who was a son of the late Judge Maning, was a great athlete in his young days—a fast runner, good boxer, and a very fine rower —and many will recollect him taking part in athletic sports held in the old Albert bar- ► racks. His father was a very fine Cumberland style wrestler, and apW parently his son inherited this from his father, for on one occasion in the early seventies, at the Thames, “Shau” threw Charlie Robertson, the Thames representative, and his achievement was the subject of much laudatory comment. Subsequently Mr. Maning went to AusMkralia, and remained there till the Hme of his death.
