“CO-OPERATE!”

KiiSS WILLIAMS’ ADVICE. ‘•BELIEF IN WOMEN.” “The future of the world lies in the hands of the English-speaking peoples, but it will be women of a larger outlook who will be the greatest force in building up a comradeship of the world.” This is the sentiment of Miss Mary Floyd Williams, Ph.D., of ‘California University, and author of two books dealing with early Californian history, who is now in Sydney on her wav round the world. . Possessed of great personality and ehann, added to a quick, far-seeing brain, Miss Williams is an ardent supporter of the English Speaking Union —of which a branch has been formed in Sydney.

“My real belief is in women,” she said, “and the fine capable women are going to be a tremendous power for good in the rebuilding of the world. Here in Australia, your women have impressed me greatly—they are the equal in every way, except one, of those American women of which you read so much. Australian women have not yet learned to co-operate to the fullest power determined by that mighty little word. When you have learned that lesson —and America had to learn it, hardly, too—you will have Parliament, press and profiteer under your thumb. Learn to work together harmoniously on big questions affecting the welfare of women and children, and do away with, friction.”
