HARBOUR BOARD.

MONTHLY. MEETING. The Thames Harbour Board met last evening. Present: Messrs. C. W. Harris (chairman), E. N. Miller, A. Bruce, H. O. Cooper, A. Donaldson, J. W. Dan by and T. Loughlin. . Messrs. S. A. Hetherington and R. Coulter were granted leave of absence.

The Te Aroha Borough Council advised that it was opposing tne Harbour Bill and that it had rescinded a resolution in support of rating on a basis of &d in the Mt T. W. Rhodes, M.P., advised that consideration of the Thames Harbour Bill had been deferred till Thursday next owing to pressure of business with the Local Bills Committee.

The Secretary of Marine tele graphed that the Order-in-Council granting a license to the Kauri Timber Company had been revoked.

On the motion of the chairman, it was decided to forward a potter to Mrs McLean, of Turua, expressing the board’s deepest sympathy with her in the death of Mr McLean.

FOREMAN’S REPORT. / * The foreman reported on matters for the month as follows: Considerable attention has been given to re nailing decking on the Burke Street wharf.. Very long ewn bank spikes are being used in order to secure a hold, owing to the .top of the stringers being either decay ed or worn with constant nailing. I have dismantled the board's portion of the Waiotahi aqueduct, and stacked the timbers obtained therefrom. The sound timber will come in for repair work. The land enclosed by. the Yiewly-erected picket fence ha» now been drained and leveled. The picket fence referred to, including the building opposite, has received one coat of paint and as time permits a second ,coat will be given. The Short-land buoys were attended to, and a large shag was removed front the Shortland channel. Blasting powder had to be used, as the obstacle 'in question was most difficult to handle. The barquentine Wanganui was towed up the river on September 25 loaded with poles for the Thames Valley Eeotrv' Power Board. i
