Thames w 7 on the toss and put their opponents in. They started confidently. Pivott .and Halliday playing sound cricket, and 31 runs were on the board before a separation was effected. Then Carroll, a newcomer to Paeroa ? came in and played sparkling cricket, his score of 48 including four 6’s. The fielding of the Thames team was good, Buchan dismissing Halliday with a brilliant catch and Brokcnshire accepting one from Farley in the long field. These made up for two chances refused earlier in the innings. Thames tried seven bowlers, but runs came freely and tho total ■was tho respectable score of 212. Gordon with 4 wickets for 65 and F. Gibson 2 for 28 were the most successful bowleri*

G. Buchan and W. Gleeson opened the innings for Thames and put on 26 before Carroll got a wicket. Then tho batting collapsed, and with the exception of Brokcnshire 12, not another batsman reached double figures. Carroll, a fast bowler, was the cause of the downfall. He took 6 wickets for 26 runs. With only 74 on the board Thames had to follow on, but again failed. Of the total of 104 Dare contributed 58 not out, a really fine innings.
