At tlie Thames High School, which opened on Monday, there is an increase of some 20 scholars over /last term’s number, making a total of 166. The opening of the new High School at Te Aroha has taken a few away. A remarkable increase in the number of pupils coming from the Plains is a feature of this year’s attendance.

Passengers by launch from Turua on the first trip this morning were given some little excitement in the way of a boat race. The Hairini, with Mr. J.
