BURGLARY AT PARAWAI.

GROCERY STORE ENTERED. MONEY STOLEN. T'ha grocery store in Fenton Street,. ,"arawai, owned and occupied by Mr. A. Cowen Wood, was entered on Thursday night, and a sum of £l9 stolen from the safe. Mr. Wood retired at the usual hour x>n Thursday night, but, it is stated, he left the key in the safe. On entering yesterday morning he found the safe door open a,nd the contents missing. Ho immediately notified the police, who havo the matter in hand. The burglar, or burglars, entered by means of*a window which they opened. Amongst the money stolen was silver, notes and cheques. The locality is very quiet at night time, but the corner is lighted by an electric light standard, although the wide roof of the verandah shades the fronti part of the premises. Residents ar 0 warned against leaving windows and doors insecurely fastened during the holidays, or while they are away from home.
