AGITATORS ACTIVE.

THE BOYCOTT CAMPAIGN. ' (A. and N.Z. Cable.) (Received 9.15 a.m.) DELHI, Dec. 20. Action is being taken everywhere against extremists and numerous members of proscribed nationalist volunteers, with their leaders, have been arrested op charges of alleged sedition. A majority of the Calcutta university students have struck, including the missionary colleges. Various ' vernacular newspapers are being prosecuted for publishing seditious articles or inciting the people to join the volunteers. One or two have apologised to the Government, including the leading Calcutta extremist newspaper. . » Everywhere deterrent sentences are being.passed. Regarding Calcutta the sole idea appears to be to ensure the boycott of the Prince of Wales. Preparations are complete, even to the extent of fastening placards on stray dogs, advocating the boycott. The Government's firm attitude is causing a hostile feeling, not only among the extremists, but among certain moderates, and- one provincial Government has decided to abandon the campaign, but it is generally considered that the'Government's action has been justified.
