LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. PARLIAMENT BLDGS, Oct. 12. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. The Legitimation Bill (Hon. J. MacGregor) was introduced and read a first time. The House met at 2.30 p.m. FIRST READINGS. 1 The following bills were introduced ■and read a first time:—Abolition of Capital ‘Punishment Bill (Mr J. McCombs), Auckland City Loans Consolidated and Empowering Bill (Hon. C. J. Parr), Cook Islands Amendment 1 Bill (Hon. M. Pomare), Industrial, Conciliation, and Arbitration Amendments Bill (Hon. G. J. Anderson). SECOND READINGS. The following bills were read a second time: — Native Land Amendments (Mr V. Reed) , Electricians Registration ' (Mr D. G. Sullivan), Hotel and Restaurants and Private Hotel and Boardinghouse Employees’ Six Day Week (Mr P. Fraser), Daylight Baking (Mr J. McCombs), (pro forma), Unemployed Workers (Mr P. Fraser), Workers’ Compensation Amendments (Mr E. J. Howard). COMMITTEE STAGE. The Banking Amendments Bill was 1 , put through committee without amendment, read a third time and passed. The Samoa Bill was put through the committee stage with several unimportant amendments. The House rose at 12.18 a.m-
