TRIP TO AUCKLAND.

POLICE COURT' SEQUEL. A fisherman named Roy Huxley (Mr Clendon), appeared before Mr J. H. Salmon, S.M., yesterday charged with a breach of the Shipping, and Seamen’s Act. Captain Atwood, who appeared on behalf of the Marine Deparment, said that defendant was the master of the oil-engine fiishing launch Wanderer. On August 26 defendant proceeded to Auckland from Thames with five persons on board, without the-launch being provided with ' sufficient lifesaving appliances, —life-buoys, and life- belts—in accordance with the rules applicable to the ship. Mr Clendon who entered a plea of guilty, asked for leniency as defendant was not aware of the regulations, and had already been punished as l/eing owner of the boat from which some of his guests had committed an offence. Defendant was convicted and ordered to., pay costs.
