THE SPRINGBOKS' TOUR.
AN EASY VICTORY. (Press Association.) TIMARU, August 3. The weather was faultless and the ground dry and fast for the Springboks' match. The attendance totalled 10,000. At the opening, the local team went off with a rush, and just missed a penalty, and, in the following 20 minutes the Springboks crossed the midway line only on three occasions. The local team were pressing, but meeting with a stubborn resistance. The visitors gradually shook off the attack, and the first score . came after 23 minutes' play, G. Morfcel goaling from a free, kick. Shortly after H. Morkel crossed the line, and then Weepener and G. Morkel scored. South Canterbury pressed hard, and were awarded by a freekick. Scott registered a goal«with a mighty kick. At the interval > the score was 16 to 3.. |ii.i ■•• •■ \;>i.<-v
In the second spell the visitors gave a great exhibition of a clean and open game, outplaying their opponents iri every department. They carried the score to 34, while South Canterbury did "not improve their score. ? ..
