IN IRELAND.

THE LINDSAY CASE.

SOME APPALLING FEATURES.

(A, and N.Z. Cable.) (Received 8.55 a.m.)

LONDON,. August 3. The. Morning. Post.is making a feature of the case of Mrs... Lindsay, who was shot in February last.

The paper states that her relatives received a letter from the Sinn Fein Minister for > Defence, Burgess, announcing; her execution because ahe was a spy. ...■-. Mrs. Lindsay was a widow, aged 70, and was held a prisoner for months before being killed She was forced.to write a letter lo General Macready,' asking for the reprieve of-several Sinn Feiners, and saying that if they were- executed her life would-be the forfeit.. Iff is believed she was executed as soon as the Sinn Feiners were.

The Morning Post says that it is an analogous case to the murder Nurse Cavell, though, it points out, the latter v was tried according to the rules *of a Court of Justice. It bitterly comments on the changed attitude of the British Government in negotiating with de Valera, who is the head of a, gang of assassins which, perpetrates these unspeakable barbarities.
