THE INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC.

j (To the Editor.) ! Sir,—-In view of the fact that we hiave now an epidemic of influent, in New Zeaiand, I think it would be wise if our doctors would let us know exactly thow to treat it in order to^ prevent moi^e serious results. At present it seems to be in a and-ld'form., but if this is neglected it may lead to bronchitis or pweuinonia, which are far more difficult to overcoimie and may have disastrous! effects. One New Zealand doctor says thiat the best treatment for influenza is disinfecting the throait and nasal passages, or nose, but he gave no instructions how to proceed. Now, what we want to know is: What disinfectant should be used, and in what way? I suppose the throat should be ■ gargled, but I think few of us: have amy idea, of ihow the nose should be treated, so that I am sure a little more infonma^ tion on the wihdle sulbject would be very welcome. Hoping that our mcdi- , cal men, who are aliways so kind and thoughtful will give tis this for the benefit of the public.—'Yours, etc., ! PREVEiNTION.
