LOINDO'N, October 7 A; French report says: —iNortih of St. Quentin the battle continued all day. We .captured Raaniajncourt, Eilloy fawn, and several fortified woods between Mercourt amd Sequeihart. The enemy resisted furiously, but failed to arrest the advance of our troops, win© conquered the ground foot by foot, taking several hundred prisoners. North, of Rfaeimg, we reached the Suippe at numerous points. Gerinian rearguarda on the soiibh bank resisted violently, counter-attacking several times. We drove tihem back, inflicting sangiuinary losses.. We hold the southern outskirts of lAiq'Uilopurt village and Bertrioourt. iNorthi of the Suippe we forced a passiage eas.t of Orainville, and captured Pontavere cemetery. There was equally severe fighting in_ tih© region of Buzancourt and Boult-Sur-Suippe, which resulted in our reaching the outskirts of these localities. We debouched from. Betihaneville, in the face of violent artillerying and machine-gunning, and gained ground, also north of St. Clement Anns. The enemy was compelled to retreat in disorder.
