Materials required: +-il-4 heather fingering wool, 4 knitting pins No. 12 or I'd. Alloa wool or 3~ply wheeiingi yarn is t!he best..
Cast on 120 stitches, viz:—36 on 2 pins, 4iß on 3rd pin-. Knit 501 vows of 3 plain, 3 purl, oast off 24 stitches, knit plain, backwards ' and forwards till there are 16 ridges.
Cast on '214 stitches and join up again (this is to form a vizor or cup jor place for eyes). Knit 30 rows of 3 plain and 3 of-purl. You must arrange stitches to have 40 on each pin; faiit 4 rows purl; in 4th rowknit every &th aiid 9th stitches together ; 4 nows purl: in the 4th rowpurl every 7th and Bth stitches' together 4 rows plain, in 4th row knit every 6th and 7tih stitches together. 4 rows purl; in 4th row purl every sth and 6th stitches together. 4 rows plain, in 4th row purl '4th and 6th stitches together; * rows purl. in the 4ith, now purl, every 3rd and 4th .stitches together. You now work one row quite plain, one row with every 21nd and! 3rd stitches knit together, 1 row plain. . Now narrow a® fast as you can and cast off, when the helmet will be finished.
