MATCHES AT AUCKLAND.
COUNTRY WEEK CONCLUSION

AUCKLAND, June 23
Country Week was concluded at Alexandra Park on Saturday * afternoon, in beautiful weather, and with a large attendance. The matches arranged as a wind-up were the ■■Com,-. ! bdned Country A v. Auckland representatives, Combined iJUountry B' v. Auckland B team, and Auckland junior representatives v. Hokianga. Tho last-named game was played as a curtain raiser to the big fixture, and re>sulted in a draw, neither side scoring. HoKanga'had an ad'vjantag'e in weight, which was counteracted by the nippiness of the Aucklanders, and the_ game was an even ,one. Tn the Combined Country A V. Auckland the local team had all the best; of matters, and though their play on the whole was ragged, they rattled up 30 points to 3, a penalty goal to t/he visitors. The Country team played a hard game, and put up a 1 good fight, the forwards, in particular, (battling it out to the bittier end.
In the !& match Auckland were also successful, scoring 28 points to 3, after a fairly interesting game.
