'Charles Nichol, aged 36 years, married, was run over by a train near Otautan this morning. H!e left home to feed horses an 3it is surmised that when crossing the line he was struck by the engine.
The driver did not see the accident. The victim was not found till the goods train arrived later. Botn legs were cut off. Nichol died on the way to the hospital.
