—Hilkutaia Footpath.—<

Cr. Bax drew" the Council's attention to the bad state of the Hikutaia footpath, which is almost impassable and is dangerous to children. A feijlcie would be acceptable in this respect and moved that the Engineer report on the matter. He also drew attention to the state of the drain from the hotel to the other side of the hall, and moved that the Council effect repairs on same by .supplying pipes to be put in by the residents before the summer months. Cr. Cooper seconded and the motions were carried.

—Thames-Tapu Rk>ad. — • Cr. Deeble said the above roi&d below Wilson's Avas becoming undermined and narrow, and was very dangerous. He moved the Engineer report on the matter at next meeting.—Seconded and carried. —'Electric Lighting.—■ At last month's meeting of the Council the Cleris and Engineer were instructed to look into the placing of posts, eta, in connection with the electric lighting scheme, and m some 1 points needed settlement, the report Was held over till next month's meeting. The Council was unanimous in the desire of not placing any obstacle in the way of the district's progress, but they should 'consider thoroughly what they were about to do>. They should not be hasty in giving sanction fo the erection of electric pole®, and the matter was allowed to stand ovtetr till next meeting. —i—Foreshore Dlredgjing Company.— Miller and Son wrote stating that they had been endeavouring t» obtain a satisf afctory settlemlent of the outstanding water account due by the above cony>any to the Council. The company proposes that until 31st Jaivuary, 1914, be given to them for payment of tfcie amount due, and will pay interest at the rate of 5 per cent payable half yearly on 31st January and July in. each year. A bond was forwarded in terms of the agreement, and the Council decided to sign same.
