COROMANDEIL, Mn-

Mr Alfred liildyard Gatland, master of thie Cbi-omlandel High School, and well knowli alt Thames,- A\ ras found dead at 8 this morning, death inaiving been caused "by injuries received from ai gun shot. Life was extinct when, the body Was discovered.

Mr GatJand suicided ait his residence. He Was found dead with the muzzle of the rifle in his mouth, and a hole right through his head. His was to have represented the OorolEiandel Lodge at the Conference of Masons in Dunedin. (Deceased was well aoid faiviorably knowtn ajt Thames and it was onlylast Good Friday that he Was on Thames along with his [brothers, who played in the Ckwomiaridel tennis team. Mr Gatland had beien in poor hejalth for some time, and was stated' to have been suffering from nervous depression.)
