Walter BEdhard Siadler, who. was remiandedi to Cihristchuirch from the "Magistrate's Oourt, Wellington, yesterday, ma.de bis appearance before Mt S. W. Bishop, S.MI.J. at the Christchurch Court to-day. Owing to the' I'cAq ai rival of the Ma.ra.roa it was not till past 12 o'clock that the prison vei' entered the dock, and by that time expectation which had been noticeiable earlier in the morning had died and the court was. unattended' by curious spectators. The prisoner, who was carefully attired in a green suit, lookied neiv tous and pate, this being accentuated by his shodk of disordered brown hajir, Arhile his eyes r,oVed uneasily aboult thla court. The charges brought against him were to the effect thlat on, two occasions, namely, on April 26th at Wellington, and on the Bth of the same nUointh at Raiapoi, ha used a /certain instrument for .:an unlam-ftil purptosu on a girl. Oil the application of the chief detete/tivev ' hie wjas remanded till Wednesday, - May Bth. Bail Was allowed the accused in .£l5O and two sureties of £75 each, this being the same bail which hie had been allowl--ed :by the Wellington Court.
