With a blush of maidauly simplicity, she remarked-— "Dear me 1 I'm glad your Colonel approves of the match ; but what a hurry he is in 1 I don't think I can get ready so soon; but I'll do my best, because of course, love, the commands of your Colonel must be obeyed." . I Tha young warrior was puzzled, j "Don't you see, my darling," he said, ''that this confounded telegrom : puts a stopper on our plans? Ton don't seem to understand the telegram. He says peremptorily, 'Join at once.'" ! The lady's blushes deepened; bui, with a look of arch simplicity, slit. raised her lovely eyes to her fiance'B and replied:—■ ! "It is you, darling, who don't seem to understand it. Your Cobn.-l says plainly, fJoin at once,' by which, of course, he means get married immediately. What else oan he possibly mean?" ■Without another word the young man accepted the' explanation, and was enabled to answer the Golond'a telegram lorty-eight hours afterwards in these words:—»• '< "Your ordere obeyed. Wa we c joined at once."
