THL GOVERNMENTCONDITIONS. USE OF SHAFT BY OTHER COM-->ANIBS. ■„;■■■■'

In (connection with the subaidy of £ for £, granted by the Government for the sinking! of the Thames Hauraki shaft, the conditions imposed 'by the Mines Department on. behalf of the Governmeniti inciludte, that all /work done and material used is to be approved by an officer appointed by the 1 Minister for Mines, any' pumping p!anti, machinery, and equipment I stored on the pumping reserve ■■ shall ! be at the disposal of the party undejrtaikinar the work," for use in the shaft, but no plant, machinery, or equipment is to I'be moved from, the \ shaft without permission! in;r writing from the Minister for Mines; the cost of pumping all water encountered in the shafts which shall exceed in volumie the quantity at present being ) raised!, shall be Included in the Bute ; sidised work. Timber and other m&r , terial used in the shaft shall. be/;<rf I the same dimensions as heretobefore employed in the said shafts " • The May Queen Company^ shall be i permitted to make such drives -and i crosscuts as it may deem necessary to i facilitate' its imining .operations, proi viding Ithat during the time " such i drives arid crosscuts are being-made, i the work of sinkimg 1 the shaft shall be continuously carried out. • Atay inline owner or company- desiringl to work, from the shaft shall he at liberty to.do so at all times, but hi the event of any dispute arising regarding ventilation or operations in connection with the use of the shaft, (etc., the dispute shall be referred to j the Warden^ and the Warden, shall i report his decision to the Minister of . Mines, which decision, if approved by the 'Minister, shall be final. j A winding charge of one shilling and sixpence (Is 6d) per ton (of 1 224Qlbs) shall be paid to the Thames I Drainage BoUrd by any mine owner or company, other than the May Queen Company,. who shall. require rook, ore, or other material to be raised in the Queen of Beauty shaft. j In the event of;any mine owner or company desiring) -to conduct mining operations from the said shaft, such mine owner or company shall refund to the May Queen Company an equitable proportion of the sinking, cost, as may foe decided upon!by.the Warden. : These conditions are not in w^ way to interfere With or abrogate any regulations, etc., made with respect to the drainage of mines within the Thames drainage area, but only refer to what may take nlaoe subsequent ,to and beyond the present depth on i whiich the mine* contribute to the Drainage Board. | The Minister of Mines shall have : power at any time to amend oi* alter t the oondiitdon with reference to the use of the shaft by any mine owner or company.
