A,'disastrous typhoon, tha most serious for many years, swept tho islands of Leyto and 1 Sanuir, in the eastern portion of the Philippine Islands
The effects of the typhoon, were most seriously felt in the island of Leyte, wiherei ai hundred people were killed by falling- buildings and trees. !A; number'of native houses on both islands were levelled to the ground by thle force of the typhioon, while the barraicka and officersf q-unirtersi of the United' States forces on tine east coast
of Shmiir were destroyed,
