THE AiNOTAL MEETING.

At the annual meeting of the Tihiainea Drainage Board the Hon. RMitohelaon presided. ■. .

The ijiuajl report stated that during the past year pumping operations had been carried on 'Continuously without stoppage or mishaps to machinery of any consequence^ The ■Water'• level in the shaft had. been kept below the 650 ft level, pumping am average of 16 hours per day. With three boiiera there, was ample steam. Three shifts were employed! until Alugust 4, when it wa§ found necessary to retdueethe staff from 8 to 5 hands. Tlhishaid made a considerajble .saving in waiges. The county w&tetf was not now available for Sunday working:, but they had a regervoin which held 'enough to keep the pump going for 6 or 7 hours- The plant and miaichinery iwe in' good oi-der. The financial statement showed receipts amounting to 43612 18s 2d, against an expenditure of £.3477 15s lid, leaving a balance in hand of .£135 2s 3d. Thle principal items of eixpenditura were coal £1456 18s lid; and wages £1268 11s 6d. The assets show ai ibialajruce over 1 liabilities of '£321 18s 4d. " '
