Foreman of Works Report.

At tihe meeting of the Thames Bor: ougih Council on Thureday niighjt the -Foreman of Works (Mr Thos- Jackson) reported as follows upon, the work of the past fortnight: —

"In accordant!© with your instructions a footpath has been- formed on the south side of tae Waio-Karaka road, from, the back of the Hauraki

pump to the foot of the steps leading to Irishtown. Steps and. hand-rail have ailso'been fixed on the path leading from the Waio-Karaka road to the collar of the May Queen stiaift.

"The repair's to the sea-wall art Rocky Point have been completed- A number of the toe-atones which had been moved out of position have been replaced .andi -well keyed in- Aboui 40ft of thie wall-planking of the W'aiotahi underground flume had faller away with deoay- . This portion has been renewed and again made safe. The raising of the footpath on the west side of Upper Pollen street, between Williamson and Albert streets, has been completed and the footpath topped .with Kuraniui gravel. This footpath should be in good order for tarring and sanding when the season arrives- The culvert crossing Pollen street, a,t its junction with Williaimsor street, having become rotten, and partly buried 'Has been replaced wittih IS inch tiles- Tiiese tiles have been pui in at a level 14in, higher so as to give (he drain on the west side of Pbllei: s'-eet, leading to Albert street, r h tter fall. The continuous wet weaker has made it impossible to finish ih& concrete water-taible on the west side of Brown street- The footpath has been .made up to a proper level and coated with clean gravel and the metal on the road has'been blindedA days work for two men will now complete the work in this street- With regard to the proposed diversion of a part of the Baiuraki pump water down the noi'fcli side of Coehrane street, 1 find the fail is ample, but a* thfe water-taible has to take the draimage from the north side of the WaioKaraka road" and from the whiole ol Keddell street, it is already taxed to its utmost capacity during heavy rains such as we hiavc had during the last few days- The work of making up the footpath on the south aide oi Williamson street, between Owen street amd Beach, road, preparatory tc putting in the moulds for the concrete water-table, is now in handhave been formed on the east and west sides of the public pound, flue two sets of 6in tile drains have beer laid across the footpath, to carry the water into the Grey street drain Drains have also been formed at the back to carry as much water sun yousi bio into the Itape Creek- I fount the whiole yard to be a sheet of rnut and water- The mud has beer scraped into heaps, and will be cartel away when sufficiently dry- .
