Intimation was received thai* Ibe Government Engineer-i& -Chief had approved finally of the Auckland hairbour improvement,, which had now being signed by the Governor-in-Council. A; minority of members urgedl that! the opinion of Mr Napier Bell and Mr Fergusdny engineer to the Wellington' Harbour Board, ehoiuldi ibe got on the scheme, 'but it. was stated that both these gentlemen had unofficially expressed their 1 opinion in favour of the plane- Finally it was decided by six votes to three to proceed.wi^h the work-
