WASHINGTON, September 8.
In consequence! of President Roosevelt's investigations wholesoJe dismissals of 'high. officials of the Post Office have taken place, including Georg© W, Beavers, the Superintendent of Salaries and Allowances 1, amd A.- W. 'MSaehen:, General Superintenr dent of the Free Delivery Division-, both the officials holding office as firstassistant to the Postmaster-General and! seats also in the postal service.
It ha® been shown that forty par cent paid the officials for .purchases of stores. Salaries would be paid without services, and sometimes two salaries for* one <mi&n.
In consequence of the disclosures 3045 promotions and the appointment of 300 additional ■clerks has been can celled.
