Sudden Death of Mr Samuel Alexander.
— _> Just as we go to press .information comes to- hand of the sudden death, cf Mr Samuel Alexander, an' old and respected resident, of Thames, who passed away to-day in his 74thi year. Fromi what we can gather at the> short time at our disposal, the deceased wasl suddenly attacked with famtness at his residence at Willoughbly street, and shortly after died apparently from- am attack of syncope. Dr. Lapradk was at ontoe sent for, but all attempts to revive Mr Alexander failed, death taking place shortly after he was attacked. -■ The deceased was intimately associated with the early history of the Thames goldfield. He pegged out many claims that afterwards proved to- be valuable gold producers, and he wag connected more or lessi intimately with many of the sensational goldl discoveries in the ea.rly days of the field. General regret will be expressed! at the sudden death of one who* could claim, many friends in the Thames and surrounding districts.
