Great dissatisfaction exists at the political situation of the colony, especially ut Sir William Lyne continuing to hang on to the Slate Premiership. This is aeaen. tuated by the reswearing in of the State Ministers and the further prorogation of Parliament to ApriL With the Federal, elections looming ahead, it is not improbable that the life of the Parliament will expire by effluxion oi£ time before it again meets. The delay in issuing new elector's rights haa considerably added to the complications.

The Herald says that the Parliamentary institutions are altogether in abeyance and that the State is being governed irresponsibly by a committee of Ministers only. Long before Parliament meets again the present administration will have probably undergone such changes that it will be impossible to fix upon it any resonable responsibility for -any tangible act whatever. The paper hints that the Commonwealth celebrations will cost a quarter of a million pounds. The organisation ri of parties for the Federal elections is progressing. The Freetrado liberal executive out of a plethoru sa far have chosen twelve candidates for the House of Representatives; these include three labour members.
