Hon. J. Carroll Banquetted

AUCKLAND, April 20. The Hon. Mr. Carroll was entertained at a complimentary banquet last night by the stewards of .■< ; the Auckland and Otahuhu Trotting Clubs. A number of local members; of Parliament were present. Mr. Frank Luwry said he proposed' to introduce a bill into the next Parliament to legalise consultations.: Mr. Carroll's health was drunk with enthusiasm. He paid a; high tribute to ihe way trotting Was carried on in Canterbury, and advised the local olubs to go in for first-class trotting. Mr. Carroll said the Auckland Raoing Club stood higher than any other racing club in the colony. They gave the biggest prizes, had the . largest attendances and the biggest ■ totalisator investments, and could - carry on the meeting locally without outside assistance.
