The opening of the Sale of Work, organised by the ladies of the Baptist and Congregation*! Church took place this aft moon in the presence of a large number of patrons, the Rev. Mr Dewdney making the formal announcement. It must be admitted that the goods sent in realised the most sanguine expectations. The sta'ls, of which there were eight in number, have be3n most artistically arranged and altogether form a very pleasing sight. In addition to the various stalls, there is the eyer-welcnme Christmas tree, 1 iaded with gifts for the young people, and which are sure to be thoroughly appreciated. The stalls are "in the capable charge of the undermentioned ladies : — Christian Endeavor stall (girls': Mrs Dewdney, Misses J. Lamb, B. Gribble, M.Hammerton and E. Wells; (boys), Messrs J Driver, E. Renshaw, E Donovan, and E. Brown ; ladies' sail, No. 1, of children and ladies' clothing and fancy goods: Misses Hudson and Power; ladies' stall. No 2 : Mesdames Shepherd and Bray ; confectionery stall: Misses Renshaw and Driver ; second-hand book stall: Mrs Green : flower stall: Mesdames Fa'tson and Green ; refreshment stall: Mesdames Brown, Johnson, and Moorman ; Chnstrcas tree : Misses E. Wood, A Doidge, and Brown; telephone, &c.: Mr J. Grigg ; phono*graph: Mr W. Hansen. The Sale of Work will be kept open this evening, and as the various goods tre to be realised at very reasonable prices there will undoubtedly be another large attecdicce, and the goods should be readily disposed Of. The Kauaeranga orchestra—2o performers—will be present and will en'e- a number of s lection which items alone should have the efi ct of drawing a large audience.
