CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

Shaw. , T , Visiting Committee's Report.—l he Visiting Committee in the course of their report mentioned that the conduct of the Institution and the condi* tion'of the adjacent ground reflected great credit on the master and matron. The numbet of inmates in the Homes was 29, consisting of 27 males and 2 females. Thomas Whiteford was ad, mitted temporarily to the Home on the recommendation of Dr. Williams. Relieving Officer's Report. — lhe Relieving Ufßcer's report was to the effect that rations to the amount of £33 6s had been issued at the Thames during the past month, as against £33 9s 3d for the December month. At j Coromandel rations to the amount of £7 had been issuedfor the past month. In connection with applicaions by inmates of the Old, Men's Home for pensions the Relieving Officer had visited the Institution in company with the Deputy Registrar, and the latter bad made preliminary enquiries for the guidance of the S.M. There were 15 applications and the greater number j of these will probably be granted. ! Deputy Relieving Officer.—For the , position of Deputy Relieving Officer ; at iPaeroa, to fill the vacancy caused . through the resignation of Mr Ingram, | five applications were . received and i Mr J. Garcia was, on the motion of ; Mr Davey, appointed to the position. For a similar office at Coromandel three applications were received, and j Mr Billing waa appointed on the motion of Mr Gatland.

Condolence. —The Chairman moved i that the sympathy of the Board bej tendered Mr Walton, a member of the j Board, in his recent sad bereavement, I and that a record of the same be placed on the minute book.—Carried unanimously. Thanks.—On the motion of the , Chairman, a vote of thanks was, accorded to Mr Ingram for the faithful ; manner in Which he had conducted ; the business of the Board while he | was Deputy Relieving Officer at j Paeroa, and the Secretary was in* j structed to inform Mr Ingram of this \ by*letter.
