AUSTRALIAN FEDERATION.
Sydnky, February 21. Sir Joseph Abbott, who has been interviewed, said that the people of New Zealand were becoming alive to the necessity for considering their position in view of the near approach of the federation of the Australian colonies, as they recognise it must affect trade He was much impressed with the growing trade and wondrous prosperity of New Zealand and the energy of the people. During the whole period of his visit he never caw a beggar, and did not believe there were any io the colony.
