Auckland, July 4
Messrs R. J. Hastings and J. R. Robinson, two Thames " boys," left by the Mararoa this evening for Sydney The former is en route to the Westralian goMfieldß, whilst "Johnny" Robinson goes to Melbourne under engage ment to Mr Eissler, to take up & posi tion as assayer.
Mr John Morrison, late of the Royal Hotel, Thames, to-day takes over the Metropolitan hotel from the genial host, " Jack" Gallagher. Mr Morrison is so well and popularly known by Thamesites that they will be interested to learn that he has got into harness once more, and his many friends will wish him every &uccess,
Henry V. Martin, engraver, who was arrested in his workshop on Saturday, has been remanded till Thursday on a charge of assaulting Constable Stackpole.
