At the wool sales, crossbreds sold extremely well with a slight upward tendency. Only a few lots of merinos Mrere offered; scoured met with eager competition. To date 53,594 bales have been catalogued, of which 3323 were withdrawn

Victorian wheat, on the spot, is selling at 40s; early May shipments are offered at 31s 6d.

At the wool sales merinos are very firm; crossbreds, unchanged. The Oreti clip realised 7£d, Clyde Vale B*d. At the Kauri gum auctions 1535 cases were offered and 776 sold at a slight advance; three-quarter scraped 105s; half scraped 755. Hides are in small supply, with firm demand. Queensland cow hides, Leather firm, but prices are unchanged; Frozen Mutton. —Cross-bred wethers and maiden ewes: Canterbury 3fd, Dunedin and Southland 3£d, North Island 2sd. Lamb: Prime Canterbury 4|d fair average, including Dunedin, Southland, Wellington and second Canterbury 4 3-16 d. River Plate cross-breds or merino wethers : Heavy 2fJ light 2&d. • Sydney, July 4.
