The New Mining Bill.

The Wellington correspondent of the Herald telegraphs : — The proposed amendments in the Mining Bill suggested to the Auckland Chamber of Mines by Mr H. A. Gordon and Captain Hodge have not yet been officially communicated to the Minister of Mines, but he has seen the report contained in the Herald of June 30th. The Minister has received numerous suggestions from all parts oi the colony, inoluding many from Auokland, but he does not intend to embody them in the first printed copies of the Bill, and the measure, which will be introduced in a day or two, will, with one or two minor alterations, be the same as last year's Bill. Mr Cadman is, however not going to overlook the suggestions which he has received. He is having these printed and classified, and they will be thoroughly discussed by the Goldfields Committee, when the Bill comes before that body, and it will be then that any of the proposed amendments considered necessary by the committee will be inserted. Mr Cadman says he is most anxious to make the measure as complete and as satisfactory to all | parties as possible The Bill, it will be remembered, was introduced and read a second time pro forma last session. The Speaker has, however, ruled that under the circumstances it cannot be resumed at tbe stage to which it was carried last year, but must be commenced de now."
