Assaulting a Constable.

Henry Martin, engraver, has been arrested for assaulting a constable. The latter had been cautioning Martin for violent behaviour, and wan going down the stairs of accused* workshop when, it is alleged, Martin hurled d tomahawk at the retreating policeman, but the missile just missed his head. Martin locked himself in the room and barricaded the door. The police had the greatest difficulty in persuading him to open it, and eventually he was taken in charge. The accused is subject to fits of violence. His conduct caused great excitement, as it was feared he might do some violence before submitting to arrest.
