There is likely to be litigation between the Freights Reduction Committee and Stanley and Company, ef Danedin, who undertook to provide tonnage for a guaranteed amount of wool last season. It is alleged they failed to carry out the contract, and Uje Committee now suggest to those who suffered loss that they empower the Committee to sue under a clause in the agreement. Several local sheep farmers are stated to be heavy losers. Nelson, July 2.
Fellowes' hotel at Takaka, of about thirty roems, was burned down this morning. There is £650 in the Alliance on the building, but there were no other insurances. GHRisrcHUBCH, July 2. A requisition has been presented to Mr A. E. G. Bhodes asking him to contest the Avon seat. He said he had so intention of coming out again, but if the party desired it he would do so. The New Zealand 00-oporative Farmers' Association's profit for the year is nearly £10,000.
