Railways and Rolling Stocks.

A deputation of members waited tonight on the Minister of Railways in reference to a statement that the Government were to stop the construction of rolling stock for the railways. Mr Cadman said that the railway statement would be laid on the table in a few days, and he hoped to be able to show how the case stood. There was a stoppage which he hoped would be only temporary. The vote had been exceeded, and 25 per cent, of the men had received a week's notice a day ago, and 20 per cent would receive notice next week. He could not say whether he would be able to keep them on, but he was obliged to give them notice in case they might have to go.
