NELSON JOCKEY CLUB'S MEETING.
Nelson, April 20. There is excellent wtiather for the Nelson Jockey Club's first day's races. The course is splendid after the recent rain. There is a good attendance, and the following are the results: — Hubdi.es —Try Her 1, Rhoderick Dhu 2. No other starters. Won easily. Flying Handicap.—Ben Varrey 1, Australina 2, Sing Song 3. Won easily. Dividend £1 12s. Fibst Hack.—lota 1, Falcon 2, Seabird 3. Time, lmin 19 3-sth sec. Dividend, £2 6s. Cup.—Hillstone 1, Ruamahunga 2, [Survey 3. Strathbraan was the only other starter. A good race ensued between the three placed horses, Hillst me winning by a bare head, little more than a length separating the second and third horses. Strathbraan started a firm favorite, but was never In the race. Time, 2mins 24secs. Dividend, £4 12s.
