An Egyptian patio. came in contact ' with a body of Dervish horsemen, 11 miles up the river from the Atbara. camp. Ihe Dervishes attacked the Egyptians, but were repulsed with heavy loss. The Egyptian Artillery shelled th* enemy with great effect. Seven Egyptians were killed. Five hundred Dervish horsemen attacked the Egyptian cavalry returning from patrol duty. The enemy drove up almost to the Atbara camp. The Dervish camp fires are visible about 18 miles distant from the Atbara. '■ '■■ .
