A Railway Route Question.
B"' Wellington, March 23. j H< Among the proposals to get rid of H the Bimutaka incline is a line via H Wainui and Otnata Valley A short H tunnel would lead into this valley, ■whence an easy grade conducts to a H low saddle not half the height of the summit, with a lunnel opening out into the Wairarapa upon Matthew's run. Besides oppning up fine country for settlement, this route, itiscontended. would be much shorter than the preone. The engineering difficulties would befar lighter, theheight up which goods would have to be dragged lees, and the working expenses lightened. Another is that-a very short tunnel at the back of the Naiuai ild lead into another branch of the Valley by a route which' would possibly cost still less.
