DISASTROUS RESULTS.
Melbourne, February 1. The return of the heat wave is having a disastrous effect on the crops, and water and feed is scarce in many districts. ~
Telegrams from many parts of the country report the renewal of bush fires.
\ In Gippsland many homesteads were swept away, one thousand acres of grass, miles of fencing, and much live stock were destroyed. It is estimated that fifty thousand acres iv the western districts were swept by the fires.
