Thames Auxiliary Sunday School Union.

SCHOOLS GALA DAY.

xo-inorrow.the Sunday Schools under the auspices of the above Auxiliary celebrate, their Gala Day, on grounds kindly placed at their disposal by Mr W. Deeble (Parawai Gardens). Given favourable weather, a most enjoyable day (should be spent, &■ the executive have given every detail careful attention, while individual schools have also done their part to ensue the children having a really good time of it. This year an exceptionally large gathering will assemble on the grounds, the schools having made an effort to get together for this festival, believing it wSI strengthen and bring about a bond of closer union to meet in this way at least once during the year. When the railway to the Thames is* completed the gathering will be on a much larger scale, as the country schools will be able to participate in the outing. The schools will assemble at the corner of Sealey and Pollen streets at 9 a.m. (Saturday), headed by a brass band, the whole to be under the direction of the Marshal (Mr W. H. Newton), and the order will be as follows:—

No. 1, Primitive Methodist, Superintendent Mr J, Danby, scholars 165, teachers 17. Noi 2, Wesleyan Methodist, Superintendents Messrs M. Paull and N. A. Pearce, scholars 430, teachers 37. No, 3, Baptist, Superintendent Mr James Benshaw. scholars 150, teachers 17. No. 4, St James' Presbyterian, Superintendent Mr Geisow, scholars 180, teachers 16-. ■'■ . •■.-.■■ No. 5, Congregational, Superintendent Mr A. J. Smith, scholars 40, teachers 7. No. 6, Waiotahi, Superintendent Mr H. McCarthney, scholors 35, teachers 5, No. 7, Kopu School, will join at Parawai. Visitors will find the schools in the same positions as in former years. Entering the gate nearest the bridge the first school come to .will be the Baptist, not far from the river banks of course, and naturally the next teat will be that of the Congregationalists. Under "a spreading willow tree" opposite the Presbyterians tire to be located, and next the Primitive Methodists. The Kopu School will probably take up its position between two large trees on the west Bide, while the Wesleyans—ardent prohibitionistswill be found near the water tap, on the Thames side of the ground, Meal times are noon and 5 p.m., and the Committee wish it to be understood that Mr Bo we and his assistant are responsible for the supply of boiling water, and therefore .those wanting urns, &c, filled will follow Mr Eowe's instructions. I ' \ Tararu School have arranged to hold their festival on grounds kindly placed at their disposal near their own schools. The Church of Christ Sunday School, which intended to hold their i outing on the Bacecouroe, will, owing tier other arrangements, pitch their tents in one of the paddocks near the Booms. i On Sunday special gatherings take' place in various centres, of which details can be seen in the Star.
