Cassidy, and Henry Moore; Edwin Edwards, nominated by Charles Featherstonc Mitchell, Joseph 0'Meagher, George Carrick, and Charles Barrett Gentil; William Jackson Ellis, nominated by James McAndrew and A. E. Price; Thomas Gavin, nominated by Ed. Gallagher, H. Pennington, and A. W. Edwards; H. McLelland, nominated by Thomas Gordon, John M Murray, J. S. Auckland, March 25. AUCKLAND.
The election for members of the Auckland Licensing Committee was held yesterday, but little interest was taken in it. The Prohibition party stood aside and took no part, and as there was little at issue others showed but little more interest. For five seats there were six candidates, viz., Messrs J. J. Craig, W. Craig, T. T. Masefield, JVT. Julian, J. Patterson, and C. S. Wright. Mr W. Craig announced himself as an " independent" and an opponent of tied houses. The following is the result, all but the last-named beingreturned :—Masefield 981, Craig 976, Jutian 943, Wright 909, Patterson 694, Craig 420.
PAENELL. As the number of candidates nominated did not exceed that required, the following were declared elected :— W. H. Cooper, W. Edgerley, J. Lumpton, J. McCabe, A. Wright.
EDEN. The following were returned unopI posed :—Messrs J. Bollard, A. Alison, G. L. Peacock, E. H. Duder, J. E. Walters.
