At the civil sessions of the Supreme Court to-day the case of Caroline Parry v. George Crothers to recover £200 damages for alleged breach of promise of marriage was set down to be heard. Mr Napier appeared for the plaintiff and said he did not think that the defendant would appear. His Honor deferred dealing with the case till a later stage of the sitting. Subsequently Mr Baume appeared in court and intimated through Mr Cotter that his firm (Whitaker and Baume) were not prepared to go on with the case for defendant.

At the Supreme Court to-day Caroline Parry sued George Crothersfor £200 for breach of promise of marriage. There was no appearance of defendant and the full amount claimed was awarded. Plaintiff stated that Crothers got £22 10s in money from her, besides a ring valued at £5.
