The annual report of the Welling-ton-Mapawatu Eailwav Company shown the receipts for the year end* ing 28th February, 1897, were £1*26,167 inpluding a balance brought forward of £9,659. Tho expenditure was £106,599, leavingn credit balance of £19,568. The gross earnings of the railway were £94,86*2, being nearly £2000 more than last year. Land,was sold during the year to the value of £13,766. The directors recommend the payment of a dividend of <£*per> cent; on the paid up capital of the company. -
