The work of opening up the Musket lode is steadily proceeding, and very fair average grade ore continues to come to hand, from which a good prospect of free gold is obtainable. KAISER (Taiiaku). ■*..' The reef in the No. 1 level under operation in a westerly direction- is again assuming its usual size, ajbd is now more defiled and: compact, measuring fully 18in. im thickness. The ore contain*! a large pstcenttge of minerals of different classes, thrinost noticeable being copper, galena, and dark iron pyrites. Thfse minerals predominate very freely, and thf ore resembles in appearance a similar class that came to hand from the old Silvia; reef at the time it "was producing remunerative returns when under operation in that company's ground. A length of 65ft. has been opened up on the west bearing of the lode, and the output from this drive will be subjected to treatment as soon as ever arrangements can be made to treat it. lor that purpose a start has to be omde this week to take the quartz down to the main road.
