UNITED V. ROVERS.
Despite the unpropitious state of the | weather on Saturday the Association i decided that the matches arranged for that day should be played, the advancement of the season necessitating advantage being taken of every j opportunity to get off the fixtures. ! Both senior teams were short, but the ' contest was fairly interesting. United going to the wickets made a score of 49, Pearce (21) being most successful with the bat. The only other man on the side to get into double figures ( was Croucher. The Rovers obtained ; 62, of which Morgan contributed 27 and A. Lang (not out) 16. The scores were as follows :— United. Considerable interest was felt in the contest between these teams for^ each team had an equal recoid. The School batted first, but with four wickets down had only scored one run, and the eleven were dismissed for the small total of 14. Wilson's analysis was a fine one; his first five overs were maidens and then he secured three wickets. Torrens also bowled very effectively. Tararu went to win from the start, and were "out of the wood " before the third wicket fell. When play ceased they had lost 5 wickets for 26 runs, thus winning by 5 wickets and 12 runs. The scores were: — High School.—McDermott 1, Hall 1, Garcia 6. Hammond 4, Gillies 2, Donovan, Phillips, Douglas, Hetlierington, Robinson and Baker (not out) 0. Total 14.
