The country in the No. 1 driveVpon No. 1 reef continues to improve in character, and during the week a black flinity lead passed through the- reef, which had; the effect of disorganising it to a considerable extent. It is, however, assuming its usual condition, aud contains a very favourable clacs of mineral. There is no change in the reef ut No. 2 level, and the drive is being steadily advanced upon its course.

VICTORIA Twenty-three men were discharged from this mine on Saturday, not that the general tenure of the lode has shown any falling off in value, but simply becau.se the Board think it the wisest course to pursue pending the completion of the short term of option for the flotation of the property by the firm who have it under offer. There is every reason to believe that the mine will be successfully placed, but it will require a little time to bring flotation matters to a head. Regarding the prospects of the mine there is still a large extent of reef to work out, equally as productive as that milled for some time past. Above No. 1 level there remains fully seven stopes in height to beat out by 100 feet hi length, whilst the block between No. 2 and 3 levels, com* paratively speaking is wholly unoperated upon. However, with the present staff, which numbers about 24 hands, it is the intention to confine developments for the present to extension of the intermediate drives below No. 2 level, for the purpose of opening up for stoping, and to continue to etope off from the winze sunk from No. 2 level to connect with the rise which was put up from No. 3, so it will be seen that the output of ore for the present will be won from this section.
